Forest Inventory is now able to offer two training courses:

1. Basic Mensuration Conventions and B6 Tariff

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • understand and apply the conventions for measuring DBH;
  • understand and apply the conventions for measuring total or timber height of standing trees;
  • carry out an B6 abbreviated tariff;
  • perform the following calculations that are covered in Forest Mensuration:
    • stand top height;
    • tariff number;
    • volume per hectare;
    • total volume;
    • trees per hectare;
    • total number of trees;
    • average volume per tree;
    • mean DBH; and
    • basal area per

2. Practical Photogrammetry

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • understand what photogrammetry is and it’s development
  • Understand some of the basic terminology used.
  • understand the basic uses of photogrammetry
  • Understand the process from data collection to orthomosaic
  • understand the basics of drone, terminology and regulations (UK)
  • work with some of the basic outputs in a GIS system
  • understand and specify requirements for the production of various data sets from suppliers.
